A registered dietician, licensed dietician nutritionist, and health educator, Lauri Lang specializes in holistic nutrition, chronic disease prevention, and health promotion. Lauri is a member of the Wellness Council of America, and is dedicated to helping employees, community members, and students to take control of their health. Her mission statement expresses her philosophy that enhanced health results in enhanced well being. She strives to educate, empower and encourage participants to make sustainable lifestyle changes, rather than dieting and employing short term measures.
Lauri develops and delivers customized nutrition and lifestyle change workshops for many corporations, including Mellon Financial and Equitable Resources. Corporate clients consider Lauri’s workshops to be an essential strategy to improve employee wellness as a way to manage skyrocketing healthcare costs, as well as to send their employees the message that their employer truly cares about their well-being. Lauri has enthusiastically addressed large audiences crossing the full spectrum of age and demographics.
In her private practice, Lauri has counseled individuals of all ages and medical conditions who seek wellness through nutrition and lifestyle modifications.
Lauri’s coaching has driven significant results, from improvements in cholesterol and blood pressure, weight loss and general health and energy enhancement, to stress management. Previously, Lauri conducted numerous lifestyle improvement programs for Highmark’s HealthPLACE, as well as serving as the on-site dietician at the Monroeville location. Additionally, she has maintained her clinical skills by periodically doing short fill-in stints in hospital, long term care, and cardiac rehab environments.
The web-based program created for Mellon (now Bank of New York Mellon) featuring appearances in interactive presentations and content developed by Lauri won an award from the International Association of Business Communicators (www.mellon.com/eatwell).
Lauri is also recognized publicly for collaborating with Chris Fennimore on healthful cooking demonstrations on WQED-TV and at the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show. She incorporates food demonstrations into workshops regularly to show people that simple, real healthy foods are easy to prepare, taste great and have amazing therapeutic benefits.
Lauri’s upbeat and interactive instructional style has been honed by a diverse professional background, including experience in personnel management, marketing, training and development, and motivational coaching for companies such as Kaufmann’s and Pennsylvania Culinary Institute (PCI.).
